I have worn glasses since the 3rd grade.  To be able to see without glasses would have been unimaginable.  Dr. Lockhart and his wonderful staff have done me a grand  service.  If I could quit pushing my glasses up and trying to take them off at night, my wife would stop laughing at me!  Thank you very much!

Optics is the most accurate of all sciences, and lasers are the pinnacle tool of optics. Using lasers, NASA has been able to measure the distance between the earth and the moon to an accuracy of about an inch. Atomic clocks depend for their accuracy on lasers. Now, Laser Vision Correction may give most people better vision without glasses than they currently have with glasses.

The eye is like a camera. Light enters the eye and is focused by the cornea and lens onto the retina, which transforms the light image into a neurochemical signal that can be interpreted by the brain. People with myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia, (farsightedness) and astigmatism have corneas that do not properly focus the image on the retina, leading to blurry vision.

There are different techniques for Laser Vision Correction, but they all have one thing in common: they all reshape the cornea so that light focuses properly on the retina.

LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In-situ Keratomileusis involves creating a protective covering in the outer cornea so the inner part of the cornea can be reshaped. Majority of people are good candidates for LASIK.

The majority of people who receive Laser Vision Correction may be able to say goodbye to glasses or contacts for many years. In fact, the results are permanent, but if a person begins to develop presbyopia, an age-related condition that affects the lens, not the cornea, they may need additional treatments to correct the condition, such as a Nearvision CK or if the patient develops cataracts then the option could be a multifocal IOL.
