Dr. Harman was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He graduated with honors in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. Before deciding to attend medical school, Dr. Harman was a stock broker and registered investment advisor. In 1992, he began medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Harman received his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1996.
After completing an internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Harman received his specialty training in ophthalmology at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. From 1999 to 2000, he acted a Chief Resident.
In July of 2000, Dr. Harman, his wife and four children returned to Bloomington so he could begin his practice at the Gailey Eye Clinic.
Although Dr. Harman enjoys all aspects of ophthalmology and vision care, he has a special interest in cataract surgery and laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma. He is also experienced in laser treatment of diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Harman enjoys spending his free time with his family. Other interests include golfing, boating, and fishing.
