Dr. Knupp graduated cum laude from Ohio State University and received his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1978, where he was awarded the Samuel J. Roessler Research Fellowship Award. He completed an internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and residency training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at Baylor University in Houston Texas in 1983, and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Texas in 1984.
Dr. Knupp is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has published a number of articles in professional journals and lectured for societies and universities in the areas of pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology. He was an Associate Professor in the Division of Ophthalmology with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine from 1987 to 1993. He has been in private practice since that time.
Dr. Knupp has a special interest in pediatric ophthalmology focusing on strabismus and nasolacrimal duct surgery as well as neuro-ophthalmology.
