There is a benefit to wearing UV protective lenses--wearing them may protect against cataract formation. UV protection may offer greater protection than dark lenses because they allow the eyes to be exposed to more light. This causes greater constriction of the pupil which lets less light enter the eyes. However, someone with extreme light sensitivity should protect their eyes with polarized lenses.

Symptoms of a macular pucker or retinal membrane include blurred central vision, distorted or “wavy” vision, difficulty reading or performing tasks that require detail vision, and gray or cloudy in the central vision.  A child's dilation lasting longer.

For mild symptoms, no treatment may be necessary, but if there is significant vision loss, vitrectomy surgery is recommended to remove scar tissue.

As the vitreous begins to pull away from the retina, scar tissue may develop on the macular. The scar tissue may warp and contract, causing the retina to wrinkle or bulge.

Macular Pucker is when wrinkles, creases or bulges form in the macular.

The macular is the center portion of the retina that makes central distance vision and reading vision possible. The retina is the delicate innermost layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye. It contains layers of light receiving cells called photoreceptors that are connected to the brain by the optic nerve. If you think of the eye as a camera, the retina is the film on which images are recorded and the macular is the small, central part of the retina.  Macular Degeneration is a group of diseases characterized by a breakdown of the macular.
