Sumit Bhatia, M.D.

Dr. Sumit Bhatia joined the Gailey Eye Clinic in August of 2007. Eye surgeon, Dr. Sumit Bhatia's specialties include diagnosis and management of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and other retinal abnormalities. He has experience in both medical and surgical treatments of these diseases, including ophthalmic lasers.

Educational background

Dr. Bhatia received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1997. He then went on to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 2001.

He completed his internship at MacNeal Hospital, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago. Following that, he completed a two year vitreo-retina fellowship at Boston University/Boston Medical Center.
